Arnaud Jarsaillon and Remy Poncet
Arnaud Jarsaillon and Remy Poncet have a very original insight into photography with the use of food. These photographers link with a vintage theme as they turn their photographs into black and white and place food onto them. I like these photographers as the photographs are basic yet they take towards the viewers eye which I really like. Also, they place the food carefully onto the photographs to make the food fit with the photograph such as the egg as his nose or the sauce as glasses.
On this photograph, Jarsillion and Poncet link with the vintage theme as they have used black and white. In my opinion, their photographs show towards the viewers originality because the photographs are took yet they are changed which highlights the fact they are original. The colours within the photograph are basic, yet the food in most of their photographs are the most colourful object in them. The lighting is dark but bright towards the subjects face, however, the lighting looks washed out which links with Marigo's photographs as her lighting also looked washed out. The depth of field is short as you focus on the food on the subjects face and not on the background. The originality theme still runs through his photographs by the use of food such as sauce and eggs as they are very specific things to put onto a photograph. This could mean they are telling us a story within the photographs such as 'always be yourself' or 'don't let anyone bring you down' which is a good point in our generation.
I used a range of food objects such as tomato sauce, chocolate milkshake granules and a tea bag because they all have different colours and effects of them. The colour of the tomato sauce contrasts with the black and white photograph as it is bright and has very light lighting shining onto it which shows reflection. However, the texture of the chocolate granules contrast with the photograph as it looks bolder and more 3D. The tea bag was an experiment and it worked nicely as the tea granules creates a shadowed effect of the photograph. The depth of field within the photographs are very short as the viewers need to focus on the subject and the added food items that are on the photograph. I chose to do a dog and not a person as I thought that the effects would look more creative on a dog and not a person, however, I used the photographers ideas as I linked with their food items and the colours of their photographs.
Combination with Laura Williams-
I chose to use cucumber on the combination of William's and Jarsaillon's work as it contrasts with the colour of the grass. It also creates an effect of nature and bushes along the horizon. The subject of the photograph is located at the right hand side, but on most photographs, the subject is located in the centre of the photograph. The cucumber has different shades of green, especially on the edges of it which displays a shadow which presents a natural image. The sky is displayed through a water coloured blue which contrasts with the green of the cucumber. This photograph presents a theme of being extraordinary and standing out which is a common thing in our society.
