Nadine Ijewere is an unusual photographer whose work links 'The Human Condition' and 'Fantastic and Strange' titles. Her background's and her style of her hair resembles Fantastic and Strange such as the vegetables and fruits that are unformed in her hair. This could resemble her thoughts and attitudes towards photography aspects. The background on the second photograph has a mixture of dull colours and patterns which contrast with the woman's shirt and the flowers in her hair. The colour in the flowers fade and start to go light which shows that the light isn't shared out through the photograph. Therefore, the colour in the background is lighter at the right more than the left of the photograph because the light is shining from the right hand side. The photographer has thought about the clothing she has selected because the shirt matches the theme of the photographer, such as the background and the flowers involved in the woman's hair. The photograph has a short depth of field which contrasts with the title, 'The Human Condition' and 'Fantastic and Strange'.
I love Nadine Ijerwie's work because it's unusual and creative, which links with the topics 'Fantastic and Strange' and 'The Human Condition', especially with the flowers, plants and colours which are used in the photographs. Also, the flowers in the photographs are grown in Spring and Summer which contradicts with the colours in the photograph as some of the photographs have cold colours, especially the white and blue in the top photograph. The flowers could represent happiness and calmness in the photograph which could make the topic of the photograph confusing towards the viewers. The pose the woman uses could represent calmness as she looks relaxed, which links more to 'The Human Condition' than the 'Fantastic and Strange'.
MY EXPERIMENT-
I took photographs of my tapestry which is used in the backgrounds of Ijerwie's work. She uses modern displays in her photographs, and creates a religious and feminine aspect of portraits. It also displays a natural aspect of her work as the models are all natural, and so are the objects that she uses in the photographs such as flowers.
